Buying on Celtic Whiskey Auction

How to buy bottles of whiskey, spirits, wine, and memorabilia in a few simple steps.

Registration

To bid on any lot listed on the website, you will need to open an account with us. Registration is simple and can be completed by clicking the ‘LOG IN / REGISTER’ button.

• A one-off registration fee of €5.00 (Ex VAT) is charged to verify the identity of bidders.

Browse the Auction

Use the search facility, filter options, or scroll through the auction. You can also search alphabetically or by price.

Select a Lot

Select a lot, read the description, and examine the images. If you would like any additional information or images, please contact auction@celticwhiskey.com.

Bid on a Lot

Once you decide to place a bid, either enter your maximum bid or increase the current bid by the incremental amount. You will be prompted to confirm your agreement with the terms & conditions before placing your bid.

• The system will show you if you are the highest bidder or if you need to bid again.
• If your maximum bid is placed, our system will automatically increase your bid incrementally until it reaches your maximum amount.

End of Auction

The auction end date is clearly displayed on the homepage and the auction pages. From 8 pm onwards, the system will begin monitoring online activity to prevent sniper software. The auction will close at an unspecified time, usually after 9 pm.

Winning Lots & Payment

At the end of the auction, we will send an email with your winning bids, shipping/collection choices, and payment options.

• Payment must be received within 1 week of the auction closing. Late payment fees apply.
• Accepted payment methods: Bank transfer, PayPal, Credit/Debit cards.
• Vouchers for Celtic Whiskey Shop are not accepted for auction purchases.

Delivery or Collection

Once payment is received, we will contact you with an estimated delivery date or advise when your order is ready for collection. We offer international delivery to many countries. for more information about our rates please click here. 

• Insurance is available at checkout for breakage and loss, but does not cover minor damage or leakage in transit. Please retain the original packaging and contact us immediately in case of transit issues.

Storing Items

We offer free storage for 1 month. After 1 month, there is a €1 per bottle per day charge for storage.

Auction Fees

• 10% of the final selling price/hammer price.
• VAT (23%) is charged on commission, delivery, and surcharges, but not on the hammer price.

Additional Fees

• Insurance (Optional): 3% of the total value of all lots included in your order.
• Late Payment Fee: 2.5% of the total order balance outstanding 7 days after the auction ends.
