Having been set up in 2008 you may expect them to have more than just 28 bottles to their name with fewer than 10,000 bottles ever released. These are 10ml samples from their 25th,26th, and 27th releases. The 25th release is from the Hanyu Distillery. This 100% Japanese-distilled whisky marries malts from the beginning and the end of the short life of the Hanyu Distillery, which opened in 1980 and closed its gates in the year 2000. These were then blended with other malts from distillerys across japan to create some truly unique expressions. The 26th release is something special. Distilled by the 8th generation of the family, in a traditional wood-fired alembic still, this cognac was still in the original oak casks when Last Drop found it. With little of the family’s precious production ever being released on the open market, it is a true privilege for The Last Drop to share this Single Estate cognac with a discerning and appreciative audience. Release 27, is a 44-Year-Old Highland Single Malt from the Glenturret Distillery, one of the most ancient and revered names in the annals of Scotch Whisky distilling. The Glenturret’s longstanding reputation for traditional craftsmanship and small-batch production ensured the distillate produced in 1977 possessed the necessary character, structure and integrity to harness the benefits of almost half a century’s maturation. Certainly a trio of samples to beat the band.
