The 2000 vintage was one of the smallest vintages for many years, but the concentration of the wine is exceptional. Dating back to 1784, Smith Woodhouse was founded by Christopher Smith, member of The British Parliament and Lord Mayor of London who started the small company to ship Port from the Douro Valley. He was later joined by the Woodhouse brothers, who were already experienced importers which then led to the name the firm is known by today.
