Glenturret Distillery holds the distinction of being one of Scotland's oldest licensed distilleries, with origins dating back to 1775. Located near Crieff, Perthshire, Glenturret has a fascinating history that has shaped its reputation.
Originally named Hosh, the distillery underwent several ownership changes before being acquired by John and Hugh Drummond in the early 1800s. Throughout its history, Glenturret faced periods of decline and closure, but in 1957, it was revived by enthusiast James Fairlie, who restored the distillery and brought it back into operation.
In 1999, The Edrington Group acquired Glenturret, infusing new energy and investment into the distillery. Over the years, Glenturret has expanded its range of whiskies, offering expressions that showcase its Highland heritage.
