This limited edition Balvenie is made from peated spirit distilled for just one week each year. Distillery Manager Ian Millar doesn't really regard it as an anomaly, more of a recreation of the ways whisky would have been made many years ago in the 1940s, 50s or 60s. The smoke is definitely evident in the finished whiskey but it very well-balanced with vanilla, candied fruits and dark oak notes also making an appearance on the palate.
